My theory is that they messed up the code in the Open Access report that they use for billing, and Bentley can't or won't admit it. I sent all of that data to our account rep, who filed a "usage dispute." That was July 8 and just yesterday we got a notice that all of the overages have been credited back to our account. A day later they sent me a report that showed that Bentley was wrong.
Since you have to prepay for the CSS, they were able to take the money out of our account immediately! Once I figured out that the reports conflicted, I asked Softrack to investigate. Also, Bentley's own Select vs Connect reports were *totally* different for the same time period! In May, Bentley billed us for THREE extra licenses in one month plus extras in two other months for about $2000 in fees - which I knew for a fact we didn't use, and the Softrack reports backed that up. Last year we signed up for the Cloud Services (CSS) program which lets you "rent" a license for a month, which I would then enable in Softrack. Than the Connect Series so-called Open Access. We are required to use the SS2 Select Series version on some projects and it has a different report server ( ) They will literally call you back 30 seconds after you hit send on a support request.Īs far as the reporting, I ran into the same thing as Luckily the support at Integrity is excellent.
Our firm has been using Softrack for about three years and it has saved a lot of headaches, but you do have to be sure that it is configured exactly right. We have had ongoing issues with Bentley as well. They have since changed the "heartbeat" for the checkins to 10 minute intervals which I believe is still grounds for a lawsuit:Īlso see their Terms Licensing - the section on "How is Usage Calculated": I believe this alone is grounds for a major class action lawsuit - especially considering that a single license overuse cost us around $500 per software title. I just found out that prior to March 2016, license use checkout was counted in real-time but the license use checkin was only checked at the top of each hour so if you use their software from 8am and exit at 9:15am, and another user uses it at 9:45am - THIS COUNTS AS TWO LICENSE USES because the checkin won't register until 10am even though only one license was used concurrently.
