Im a firm believer that cheap Windows laptops are almost never worth. It doesn’t matter if you have a machine that runs macOS, Windows, or Linux DaVinci Resolve is available on all. Is this normal? Is my copy of Resolve or Windows cursed? Everyone on the forums says the PC should leave the Mac Mini in the dust performance-wise, but here I am. Starting off with probably the main difference between Mac vs PC, and that is the price. I have an expensive machine sitting here with tons of hard drive space that I built for this purpose, and I don't even want to use it anymore because of a $1000 Mac Mini. It does the same tasks that choke the PC with ease.
Resolve's performance on the Mac Mini is INFINITELY better than the PC. As soon as I add any OFX on a 1080p timeline, it becomes buggy as hell, crashes all the time, and tasks that should take me 30 seconds literally might take 9 hours to do all the workarounds needed to finish a video.Īt some point, my Mac that I use for music died, and I bought a Mac Mini for a fraction of the price of the PC. Resolve runs terribly on the PC under any sort of load. I built a PC for video editing last year - Intel i9, 64GB RAM, added a 3060 graphics card to it this year. A properly built PC, using codecs that are supported by it should equal the performance of a similarly priced M1, and greatly outperform M1 Macs in heavy effects and color grading of 4K video.
